Leslie "Les" Thomas Pickett was born on September 7, 1940 in Rayville, LA. He passed away on Friday, September 16, 2005 in the Richardson Medical Center in Rayville, Louisiana following a brief illness.

Les graduated from Holly Ridge High School and after college entered the United States Navy, where he served from 1961 — 1965. He was a member and served as a deacon of Life Line Baptist Church in Little Rock, AR where he resided. He was also employed by the church as Facilities Coordinator.

Les was survived by his mother, Mrs. Bertha "Tincy" Pickett of Rayville; four sisters, Frances P. Reeves and husband, Carroll of Branch, LA, Sharon P. Baum and husband, Dennis, Shelly P. Clack and husband, Bendel, and Phyllis P. Thompson and husband, Andy all of Rayville, LA; two brothers, Horace Edward "Ed" Pickett, Jr. and wife, Jeanette of Cecilia, LA and Houston A. Pickett and wife, Judy of Lexington, MS; he is also survived by twenty-one nieces and nephews; and thirty great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Les was preceded in death by his father, Horace E. Pickett, Sr. and a niece, Amy Rene Seffens.

Visitation was on Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Brown Holley Funeral Home until the funeral service at the church on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the West New Home Baptist Church with Rev. Don Chancelor and Rev. Troy Dennard officiating. Interment followed in the Epps Cemetery under the direction of Brown Holley Funeral Home in Rayville, LA.. The pallbearers was his nephews.
