Ramsey, Carl L. -- Butler - Carl L. Ramsey, 87, of 180 Cleveland St. died this morning in Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville following an 11-week illness. He was born May 2, 1902, near Butler to William and Sarah Leedy Ramsey, both of whom are deceased, and lived his entire lifetime in the Butler area. Mr. Ramsey retired from operating a farm near Butler that had been in the Ramsey family since 1815. He also wrote casualty insurance for Grange Mutual Insurance Co. while serving as secretary of Worthington Grange in Butler for 25 years. He was a member of Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church in Butler, Butler Historical Society, and the Richland County Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife, Avis Archibald Ramsey, whom he married April 4, 1953; two brothers, Harold A. Ramsey of Bellville and Chester P. Ramsey of Mansfield; and one sister, Helen Taylor of Seville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Bechtel. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John Keith, pastor of Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Four Corners Cemetery near Butler. Memorial contributions to Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home.
