Charles was born in Zanesville, Ohio to John Henry and Harriet Susan Booz Deavers.

Per the 1870 federal census, 2 year old Charles and his parents lived in Springfield, Muskingum, Ohio. His father worked in a glass factory.

Per the 1880 federal census, the family had moved to Pike, Perry, Ohio where father, John, worked as a coal miner. Charles (12) now had 5 siblings, John (10), Harry (8), Bessie M. (6), Maud (3) and Rob R. (1).

On April 2, 1887, he married Rosa B. Pritchard, 19, in Perry County, Ohio. Charles A Deavers, Jr. was born on September 15, 1887 in Bristol, Perry County, Ohio.

I have not been able to determine what happened to Rosa but on December 18, 1890, Charles remarried to Eva Francis Robinson, age 19 years.

Per the 1900 federal census, Charles and Eva had, in addition to 12 year old Charles, Jr., Mable who was born in December 1891, Elsie born in June, 1893 and Esther born October, 1899. (Some family trees show a child named Tether born in 1899 but that misconception is caused by a spelling error of Esther's name on the 1900 census.) They rented a house in Pike, Perry County, Ohio where he still worked as a miner. His brother, Harry, wife Angie and children Essie, William and Fred lived nearby.

The 1910 federal census showed Charles and Eva were still in Pike and he still worked as a coal miner. They now owned a house free of a mortgage and they had three more living children, Benjamin N. born November 1901, Addie A. born 1904 or 1905 and Joseph A. born November 1908. The census reflects that Eva had eight children with six living.

Eva passed away in February 1919 and the 1920 federal census shows Charles, Benjamin and Addie lived on Lexington Road in Pike. The home was owned free of mortgage. Charles and Benjamin both worked as coal miners.

On November 21, 1925, Charles at 57 years, married Emma H. Gebhart Miles. age 69 years. According to the 1930 federal census, they lived in Washington, Muskingum County, Ohio and Charles worked odd jobs. Their house was owned free of a mortgage and was valued at $2,500.
