George Belaire, age 79, retired employee of Marinette Paper Company, died at 8:40 am today in Marinette General Hospital where he had been a patient since January 24th. Death was due to a heart ailment.
Mr. Belaire, who resided at 2218 Thomas Street, retired from the paper company employment in 1947 after 23 years of service. He was a member of the company's Employment Mutual Benefit Association and of St. Joseph's church.
He was born October 10, 1878 in Blind River, Ontario, Canada and came to Marinette as a child. He was employed in lumber mills on the river before going to the paper company. He married the former Margaret Evans June 20, 1917. She died November 9, 1955.
Surviving are three stepsons: Henry Reinhardt of Clarkston, Washington; Thomas Dutton of Racine, Wisconsin and Raymond Dutton of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; five daughters: Mabel (Fred) Roenfranz; Margie (Virgil) Zeek; Mary (Marshall) Roenfranz; Marcella (Merlin) Long, all of Marinette, Wisconsin and Elizabeth (Raymond) Kellner of Menominee, Michigan; two step daughters: Ellen (Verlin) Keppler of Richland Center, Wisconsin and Martha (A.B.) Betts of Wausau, Wisconsin;
one brother Xavier Belaire of Menominee, Michigan; 39 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
