"Died. Mrs. Hanna Sherwood died at the home of her son, Lincoln Sherwood, on Asylum Avenue, Salem, Thursday morning, October 7, 1897, at 1:30 o'clock, aged about 77 years. Mrs. Sherwood was an old resident of Cottage Grove precinct, but was residing with her son at Salem, where he is holding a position in the State Insane Asylum. She was the grandmother of Mrs. G R Chrisman and Barney Markley of Eugene. The remains were taken to Cottage Grove on the overland train last night and the funeral will be held there this afternoon."
