"John W. Collins enlisted in Company L, 21st South Carolina Infantry for the Civil War. He enlisted at age 25 on 18 Mar 1862 as a Private in Marion District. His last record dated Sept to Oct. 1864 showed him in the hospital at Richmond, VA. W. W. Sellers stated that he died of disease at Petersburg, VA."
CENTENARY - Mrs. Capps, wife of Frank Capps, of this vicinity, died November after a short illness of heart failure. She was about 75 years old.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Lewis Capps, Mrs. Johnnie Lane and Mrs. Henry Sanders; and two sons, Frank Capps and Richard Capps.
Mrs. Capps had been a member of Olivet Methodist Church for many years. The interment was at Reedy Creek Cemetery. Rev. W. S. Myers conducting the funeral service.
