MRS. ELIZABETH BETHEN

Mrs. Elizabeth Bathen, 88, Hudson, Ia., died at 11:40 p.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Taylor, Hudson. Death was caused by complications incident to advanced age.

Born in Prussia, November 19, 1860, Mrs. Bathen came to the United States with her parents when she was seven years old. Her parents moved to Chicago and then settled in Mitchll County, Iowa.

She was married to William Bathen in 1880 and they farmed in Mitchell and Howard counties until 27 years ago when they moved to Hudson to live with their daughter.

She is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Dorothy Heller, Rockford, Illinois; Mrs. Taylor, Hudson; Cora Bathen, Glenwood, Iowa; and Mrs. George Branscombe, Mason City, Iowa; two sons, Robert, St. Paul, Minnesota; and Leo, Riceville, Iowa; a sister; Mrs. Emma Bohs, Aberdeen, Washington; 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Locke Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Buss, Gladbook, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. LeRoy Sargent.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville.
