He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Lechowich's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (Posthumous), Purple Heart (Posthumous), Army Commendation Medal (Posthumous), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Medal, Polish Forces Medal – Gold, Combat Action Badge, Sapper Tab, and German Armed Force Proficiency Badge – Gold.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jen; newborn daughter Natalie Marie; sister, Erika Lechowich, parents, Richard and Gina Lechowich; paternal grandparents, Richard Lechowich and Joan Lechowich; maternal grandparents Alvin and Frances Ochsner.
