COLCHESTER - Everett J. Curavoo, 83, a longtime resident of Colchester, died suddenly at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, following a short illness.

Everett was born in Hinesburg on April 8, 1928, the son of Edward and Myrtle (Flemming) Curavoo.

Following graduation from Winooski High School, he served his country for the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Everett was married in Hinesburg on June 24, 1950, at St. Jude Catholic Church, to Harriett (Jacques) Curavoo. He was employed for 39 years as Security Supervisor with the Vermont Air National Guard, and for 24 years as a part-time police officer in the Town of Williston. He served his whole life in law enforcement. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons.

Everett is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Harriett Curavoo; two sons, Michael Curavoo and his companion, Darcy Cochones, and Gary Curavoo; brother, Melvin Curavoo; sisters-in-law, Mickey Ketcham and her husband, Larnard, and Dorothy Jacques; brother-inlaw, Donald Jacques; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Marion Mallow and Shirley Aube; brothers, Fred and Richard Curavoo; sisters-in-law, Marion Barron and husband, Leonard, and Iris Jacques; brothers-in-law, John Jacques and his wife, Jeannine, Frederick Jacques and his wife, Agnes, and Philip Jacques.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Colchester.

Interment will follow at Hinesburg Village Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

Arrangements are with the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
