Chauncey Jr. b 16 June 1816 s/o Chauncey & Sarah E., d 21 May 1862 at 45 yrs. 11 mo, 5 days husb. of Philena Calhoun

OBITUARY---We are pained to announce the demise of one much esteemed citizen, Chauncey Calhoun, who died on Wednesday at 4 o'clock, after a short but severe illness, of congestion of the brain.

The deceased was in his 45th year, and was the last, we believe, of a family of five brothers who, with their father, bore a very conspicuous part, mechanically, in building up our village.

Mr. Calhoun leaves a wife and a family of six children to mourn the sudden death of a dear (?) husband and father. May he who tempers the winds to the shorn lambs also temper this affliction (?) to the mourning circle.

The funeral was attended at his late residence in the Calhoun block, to-day, at 3 o'clock p.m. The fire department, of which he was a prominent member, was in attendance in a body. ---New York Daily News & Reformer, 23 May 1862 p2 c2.
