Private family services will be held for former McMinnville resident Leatha I. "Lee" Maxwell of Lincoln City. Private interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, McMinnville.
Mrs. Maxwell died June 15, 2003, in her home. She was 77.
Born Sept. 27, 1925, in Ripley, Okla., she was the daughter of James L. and Laura "Gladys" Betz Butler. She grew up and went to school in Oklahoma.
During World War II, she was a lead welder in the Portland shipyards. She stayed in the Portland and Hillsboro areas until the 1960s, when she moved to McMinnville.
At various times, she owned and operated the Blue Moon, Y-Mac Inn and the Hatchery Tavern.
Mrs. Maxwell moved to Lincoln City in the 1970s. She and Alan "Max" Maxwell were married Dec. 23, 1979.
She and her husband owned and operated Maxwell's Restaurant and Maxwell's Ice Cream Store. They also owned LeMax General Contractors.
Mrs. Maxwell loved to travel. She was an avid bowler.
Survivors include her husband of Lincoln City; a daughter, Jeanne Buss of Seattle; a step-daughter, Tamara Maxwell of McMinnville; a brother, James Butler of Spring, Texas; and a grandchild.
Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville.
