Frank Wilton Jones, 84, of Anderson, SC, died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Richard Campbell VA Nursing Center.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late J. Frank and Evelyn Westmoreland Jones and widower of Sue Mull Jones. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Parker High School and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII and served in the Seabees during the Korean War. From 1952-1954, he worked on the crew that built NAS Cubi Point in the Philippines. He was a member of American Legion Post #3 and an active member of the Telephone Pioneers. Prior to his retirement, he was a communications technician with Bell South for 36 years.
Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Debra Frances Jones, of Rutherfordton, NC.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 30, 2011, at 1:30 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, with visitation prior from 12 Noon until 1:15 pm. Burial to follow in Springwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1107 S. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601.
