He was born on July 11, 1943 in Davenport, IA, the son of Richard J. and Helen M. Hallinan. On June 26, 1988 Leo was united in marriage to Ruby Thompson in Clinton, IA. She survives.
Other survivors include three step-daughters, Pam Barber and her husband Richard of Warsaw, IL, Cindy Harris and her husband Bruce of Keokuk, IA and Kathy Knox and her husband Bob of Keokuk, IA, seven step-grandchildren, Harley Mike Jones, Chris Deck, Clara Deck, Joe Jones, Jody Lovell , Jason Knox and Jeremy Harris, several great grandchildren, two sisters, MaryAnn Hallinan and Frances Hallinan both of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn in infancy, two step-sons, Joe Jones and Ike Jones and a step-grandson, Richard Barber.
Leo proudly served his country in the United States Marines and the United States Navy.
He was employed at DuPont and Quantum in Clinton, IA before his retirement.
Leo was of the Catholic Faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Veteran of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his spare time.
Graveside services with military rites were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
