Dr. C.A. Hickman, 80, was a prominent civic leader in Fort Worth, Texas. He was former president of Tarrant County Water control and Improvement District #1. Dr. Hickman graduated in dentistry at the Unversity of Maryland and moved to Fort Worth in 1903 to begin his dental practice.
Dr. Hickman served as chairman of Fort Worth’s first civil service commission. Dr. HIckman retired from dental practice in 1919 to broaden his activities in civic and church affairs, real estate and other business enterprises.
In 1922, he built the Hickman Hotel, which became the site for the First National Bank’s new building. He was founder and director of State Reserve Life Insurance company. He was founder of the Fort Worth Club.
Dr. Hickman was active in the First Presbyterian Church and became a member of the board of trustees, serving 40 years, with several terms as president.
Services were held at Fort Worth First Presbyterian Church.
Survived by three daughters - Mrs. M. Boyd Street, Mrs. Doublas Morgan, Mrs. R.B. Wilchar, Jr; six grandchildren.
