Jack's mother passed away when he was just 9 years of age and Jack's father passed away on Thanksgiving Day a year before Jack's death. For many years, Jack made his home with Cora Watts (ID#121249251) and he was like a son to her.
On April 27, 1934, Jack married his college sweetheart, Miss Patty Kimball of Manhattan. They immediately established their home in Clay Center, KS.
Jack was a young business man in Clay Center and operated the Householder Super Service Station of South 5th Street and the Texaco Station on the West side of Clay Center.
Jack entered the service in April 1941. After receiving his commission as Flight Officer with the Army Air Transport Command, Jack was assigned to fly from Natal, Brazil and Accra, Africa as co-pilot on a C-87. On his 9th trip overseas from the Miami base, his plane crashed in North Africa which was understood to be a mechanical failure.
