She married (1) William Marshall; (2) John W. Cleary.


Emma was the proprietor of the Emma Marshall Cleary Tea Room, which was very popular with the social set in the Zanesville/Muskingham County area. Many wedding showers, receptions, dinner parties, club meetings, anniversaries and other events were hosted at the tea room, which was in her home on Newark Road.
