PASSED AWAY
Mrs. Bert Maxwell, 73, a resident of the Herrick community the past 35 years, passed away Monday morning, May 13 at Clare Nursing Home after an illness of six weeks.
Mildred Eidt, daughter of John and Rachel Eidt, was born April 24, 1895 at Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada. She taught school in the former Herrick school for three years and was married to Bert Maxwell in the Clare Methodist parsonage, October 1, 1915.
Beside her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, Phyllis Mellin, two sons, Lt. Col. Neil D. Maxwell, U.S.A.F. in Thialand and Clair Maxwell of Ypsilanti, two brothers, Gracent Eidt of Livonia and Cecil of Menominee, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Maxwell were held Thursday afternoon. May 16 from the Stephenson Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Bontrager and Rev. Donald S. Winegar officiating. Interment was made in Cherry Grove cemetery.
