SOUTH BEND - Keri Michelle Davis-Gadie, age 58 years, of South Taylor Street, South Bend, Indiana, and formerly of Niles, Michigan, died at 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on May 13, 1953, in South Bend, to Mary Doty and Sam Sutton. She found Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Niles. She graduated from Niles High School. Keri was employed for fourteen years by Target Stores, serving as a manager in several area locations. She then began a career in automotive sales, first at Gates Chevrolet for ten years, and was currently employed with the Gurley-Leep Automotive Group. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and watching old movies on the AMC channel. In December 1971, she joined in union with Curtis Gadie, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Whitney "Clay" (& Katrina "Nikki") Davis of South Bend, Kirsten "Eboni" Davis of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Jasmine Gadie of South Korea; step-children, Curtis (& Yvonne) Gadie Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sonia Moore of Elkhart, Indiana, and Marilyn (& Pat) Vann of South Bend; grandchildren, Dominick Taylor, DaMonique Morgan, Dylin Adams, Elijah Davis, Iryn Adams, Devin Davis and Tristan Kelly; Keri's mother, Mary Davis-Doty of South Bend; sisters, Kim Doty, Nann Doty and Kyle Doty-Miller, all of South Bend; half brothers, Jerome Sutton of South Bend, Eugene Sutton of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Alfred Doty of Illinois, Eric Doty Wilson of Indianapolis, and Samuel Jerome Whitner of Elkhart; half sisters, Dawn Sutton (& James) Bohlen of South Bend, Cindy Kantrell, Vernagean Halliburton and Charlotte Roby, all of Elkhart, Leslie Whitner of California and Angelaic Whitner and Cassell Doty, both of South Bend. Also surviving are a host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Keri was preceded in death by her father, Sam Sutton; stepfather, Carl Doty; grandparents, Elisha and Nann Davis; a brother, Michael Boxley; and sisters, Clara Doty, Carolyn Sutton and Rhonda Sutton. The funeral service for Keri Davis-Gadie will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Niles, with the Rev. Bryant L. Bacon of the church officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. Keri will be forever missed, loved and cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
