===============
Alfred decided to go and seek his fortune. Upon arrival in Kingston, NM he heard that things were booming just over the Arizona Border, so he went there. For a while, he worked in the mines. In Kingston, NM he met Frances Levina Rouse and they married Dec 20, 1887. He took her home with him to the Sacramento Mountains where he homesteaded.

They lived there until around 1894, when he left his homestead and moved his family back to Kingston, where he worked in the mines.Then they moved again to the Douglas-Bisbee, Arizona Area, where he worked in the Black Diamond mine for several years. By this time, his family had grown to include Annie, Nona, Maggie, Alice, Oliver, Norman, Harvey, and little Frances Elizabeth "Rosie". While they lived at Pierce, Arizona, in 1906, their youngest son, Jack, was born.

It was only a little over a year later that they decided they could no longer live together, so Mrs. Chatfield and her children moved back to Kingston, NM.
