William Young Cavender was the son of Clementh Andrew and Elvira Poston and was born in 1855. William Young, like George Washington was born in a hollow just north of Mulkey Gap in southern Union County, Coosa District. Being about a year different in age, he and George where close their entire live. He worked together and played together as well. When W. Y. died, George and family buried him in the Cavender North. I don't think that any of the other graves are family. In vague memories, I can remember that that the story was that there was a family was traveling through the valley in the early 1800's and were either killed by the Indians or becoming sick and the whole family died. (husband, wife, and 4 or 5 children.) Settlers buried them on the knoll not far down the river from the Cavender Family Cemetery. William Young and George Washington had experiencing some problems with the rest of the family at the time William Y died. George wanted to bury him in the Cavender cemetery and it wasn't granted, so he and few friends and neighbors hauled him from his farm and buried him at the site where the unknown family was buried. George I think was pretty much of an out-cast of the family for the rest of his life. He also requested to be buried in the cemetery with William Y. Because of clandish traits, the two were at odds with a lot of the community as well. Evidently George did not want to be buried in the Cooper's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery where his wife Liza was buried fifteen years later or William Young did not want to be buried at Corinth where Emma was buried almost 50 years later. This is an account of the way it probably happened not being able to remember but tid-bits of the story. If anyone remembers anything that will make it more accurate, I wish that they would let me know.
