Mr. Andrews, 87, Bolivar, died Monday at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
He was born in Violet, the son of Elvet Thomas Andrews and Dolis Elizabeth Hocker Andrews.
On March 20, 1943, he married Lorene Goldsberry in Bolivar.
Gene attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a millwright for Hinkle Mechanical Contractors and also a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union. He retired in 1986, but soon he picked up remodeling and construction jobs on the side.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene Andrews on Oct. 13, 2003; his son, Derrell Andrews; and his brother, Murl Andrews.
He is survived by his four children, Larry Andrews of Half Way, Frank Andrews and his wife, Patricia, of Lexington, Okla., Bruce Andrews and his wife, Patty, of Half Way and Joy Lee Matthews of Liberty; one brother, Ben Andrews and his wife, Maydean, of Half Way; one sister, Dixie Haddock and her husband, Clyde, of El Dorado Springs; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Bob Baker and Bro. Mike Calhoun will officiate. Burial is in New Bethel Cemetery in Half Way. Pallbearers will be Wesley Andrews, Austin Butterfield, John Andrews, Gary Blackwell, Gary Drake and Dustin Andrews.
