Motion Picture Director, Actor. He developed his career in Germany and the United States. He is best remembered for his films: "Ich liebe für dich" (1929), "Madame DuBarry" (1934), "The Life of Emile Zola" (1937), "Blockade" (1938), "Juárez" (1939), "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1939), "The Devil and Daniel Webster" (1941), "Portrait of Jennie" (1948), "Salomé" (1953) and "Elephant Walk" (1951).
