Glasshof, William, Sr.

William Glasshof, Sr., 72, a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past seventy years, passed away at the Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, Wis. on Feb. 15, 1951.

Mr. Glasshof was born in New Holstein, Wis. on Dec. 4, 1878, the eighth child in a family of fifteen children. During his early childhood the family moved to a farm four and one-half miles southwest of Thorp.

On June 26, 1907, he was united in marriage to Bertha Soderberg and has resided in and around Thorp since that time. For the past thirty-two years, he operated a farm one and one-half miles northeast of Thorp.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha and six children. They are Evelyn, (Mrs. Stanley Ricksham) of Minneapolis; Truman of Cadott; Dorothy (Mrs. James Biddle) of Thorp; William Jr., of Hawthorne, N.J.; Jack of St. Paul; and Jerry at home; also ten grandchildren.

He is also survived by six sisters and five brothers: Mrs. Emma Burnside, New York City; Clara (Mrs. Paul Brosche), Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Irene Morganstern, Mrs. Hattie Welch, Mrs. Josephine Corrigan, Pearl (Mrs. Robert Patterson), Los Angeles, Calif.; Henry, New York City; George, Los Angeles, Calif.; Oscar, Minneapolis; Fred and Otto of Thorp.

Funeral services were held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 18, Rev. Arthur Manser officiating and interment following in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chester Glasshof, Ronald Glasshof, Ernest Glasshof, Roger Warner, Arthur Soderberg, Jr., and Dean Hubbard.
