FAYETTEVILLE — James "Richard" Bean Sr., 83, of Fayetteville, formerly of Rogers, passed away Sept. 24, 2011, in Fayetteville. He was born March 15, 1928, in Greenfield, Mo., the son of Jasper F. Bean and Lucy D. West Bean.

He retired from Daisy Manufacturing as a tool-and-die maker and was a member of Brightwater Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Yount Bean, whom he was married to for 25 years; and his second wife, Ernestine Patton Bean, whom he was married to for five years.

Richard loved to fish and was an avid "lake dog." He spent much of his life with his family and "extended family" at the lake cabin he built in Coose Hollow. He was a master at teaching people to catch, clean and fry fish and water ski. His grandchildren and "extended grandchildren" have many great memories of time spent on his pontoon boat on Beaver Lake. He was an amazing storyteller and loved to hear his grandchildren share the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible every Christmas.

Richard is survived by his children, James Richard Bean Jr. and his wife, Becky, of Springfield, Mo., Brenda K. Bushong and her husband, Chuck, of Farmington, Ark., Kathie Jo Klein and her husband, Kurt, of Coweta, Okla., and Tammie J. O'Brien and her husband, Patrick, of Fayetteville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, with Larry Courtney officiating, at John's Chapel Cemetery near Ash Grove, Mo.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers, Ark.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brightwater Methodist Church, in care of Benton County Funeral Home. Online condolences www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
