Janet Boyer Wolfe, 18 year old daughter of Mrs. Selma Boyer of Orr, died Saturday evening in East Liverpool, Ohio, bringing to an end a short, but spectacular ring career. Janet, who attended the Orr schools, was a protegee of Tony Stecher, Minneapolis wrestling trainer. In her schooling, she showed such promise of reaching the top that she was sent to Billy Wolfe, Columbus, Ohio where she was signed up with 43 other lady wrestlers, who stage wrestling shows all over the country. Wolfe and his wife, Mildred Burke, champion of the woman wrestlers later adopted her. Wolfe predicted that one day Janet would win the champion's crown. She died of a brain hemorrhage and an autopsy disclosed that she also had a ruptured vein in her stomach. In a match the evening she died, she was defeated by Miss Ella Waldek. Later in the evening, while participting in a tag team match, Janet stepped through the ropes to be relieved by her partner, when she collapsed on the ring apron. She died five hours later in a hospital in East Liverpool.
