Jacoba Clementina Livers, daughter of Arnold Livers, a Dutch native, and his wife Helen Gordon, became the second wife of William Elder, the first European to settle northernmost Frederick County, Maryland. They married on February 1, 1742. She became the step-mother to William's first five children, and bore him seven additional children.
