William Bodkin was the s/o Granvil Howard Bodkin and Dora Isabel Kiser At the age of about 18 his family moved from Pendleton, WV to McCoole, MD and operated a small orchard/farm as well as a small convenience store along 220 in McCoole. At this time he worked for the paper mill in Luke, Maryland but at some point he moved to Toledo, Ohio to work as a mechanic for Tastee Bread. He met and married Blanche Margaret Sheneman of Wauseon, Ohio, and they had one son, Stanley Howard Bodkin in 1934. Blanche became ill and shot William Lon in the chest as he lay in bed. She was committed to Toledo State Hosp in 1942. Lon moved back to McCoole where his widowed mother agreed to raise Stanley. Lon got a job at Kelly Springfield Tires as a Tire Builder. In 1960 he finally filed for a divorce from Blanch so he could marry Nettie May Wallace (nee Garland). Nettie brought two young children to the marriage on 25 Mar 1960. The couple enjoyed camping and fishing and owned a small camp in Ruddle, WV where Lon was born and raised. Ten years after their marriage, Nettie died. Lon sold his small farm to his son Stanley's brother-in-law, and purchased a trailer and put it in his son's backyard. He remained there until 1988 (age 87) when he signed himself into Moran's Manor Nursing Home in Westernport, MD where he remained until his death. Lon was a very generous man. He often peeled off a couple of $20s and handed them out to his grandchildren. He loved talking about his ancestors and traveling back to his birthplace. I could really use his help now that I am finally interested!
