Canadian Politician. A native of Saint-Alban, Québec, having having completed his studies in his hometown, he worked for ten years as a sailor on long course ships, On March 10, 1910, he was officially admitted in the Corporation of Licensed Pilots and worked in that capacity on the St. Lawrence river between Quebec and Montreal. Again as pilot, he joined the Furness-Wity Company and worked for it from1913 to 1947. He was elected director of the Association of the United Pilots of Montreal in 1924 and 1925, then was promoted to vice-president in 1926 and 1927 and finally, president in 1928. The citizens of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières elected him Mayor in January 1918, a post he kept, undefeated , until March 1937. He was also prefect of the county of Portneuf from March 8, 1922 to March 10, 1937. He failed to get elected as an independent Liberal candidate for Portneuf in the federal elections of 1935. But that same year, he succeeded in his bid to the Legislative Assembly of Québec when the electors of Portneuf sent him to that house as their “Action Libérale Nationale” representative. The next year, he joined the new “Union Nationale” Party and was reelected in the general elections of 1936. He was defeated in 1939, but he got elected again in 1944, 1948 and 1952. He served as Minister of Agriculture in the Duplessis cabinet from August 26, 1936 to November 8, 1939. And four years later, Premier Duplessis appointed him Minister of Municipal Affairs, a function he kept from August 30, 1944 until his passing away in Saint-Marc-des-Carrières.
