A. Ronald Button, a one-time attorney to the stars who also served as state treasurer and Republican national committeeman, has died in a nursing home where he was being treated for Alzheimer's Disease. He was eighty-three.

Services for Button, who died Saturday, were scheduled for Monday at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church.

Button was Republican State Central Committee chairman in 1953 when he was asked to take the national party post, a job he held for three years.

Gov. Goodwin Knight appointed Button state treasurer in 1956. Button succeeded Charles G. Johnson, who retired, after thirty-four years in office, following a dispute with Knight.

Button remained treasurer until 1959 when he turned all his attention to development projects in Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs.

Button is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Barbara McAllister of Tarzana; two sons, Richard of Newport Beach and Ronald of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
