Margaret Ann Powell, 70, of Mason City, died Sunday (March 7, 2010) at her home.

A memorial service for Margaret will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. today (March 9, 2010) at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Margaret Ann Powell was born on July 14, 1939, in Rudd, the daughter of Clayton Jacob and Lillian Johanna (Lawless) Fike. She was baptized on Dec. 23, 1939, and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the United Methodist Church in Rudd. Margaret attended and received her education in the Rudd Community Schools.

She was united in marriage to Roger Powell on Feb. 2, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in Rudd.

During her life, Margaret worked at AMPI, Coca-Cola, Zacks Electric (Iowa Electric), and in 1974 she began working for IMI Cornelius, where she worked until her retirement in 2002.

Margaret enjoyed playing cards, especially Cribbage, 31 and 13, trout fishing, camping, and spending time with her friend, Karol Kelsey; but her great love and enjoyment was her family and babysitting her grandchildren.

Margaret was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jodie (Larry) Nauman of Mason City, and Jim (Deb) Powell of Mason City; four grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Farrell, Clayton (Sara) Powell, Brandon (Sarah) Powell and Jason Nauman, six great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon (Harvey) Jeffries of Rudd; sisters-in-law, Deloris Fike of Rudd, Sharon (Fred) King of Charles City, Pat Powell of Mason City, Sandy (Kurt) Spencer of Nora Springs, Mary (Dan) Blair of Nora Springs, and special friend, Karol Kelsey of Rudd; several nieces, nephews, and many other extended family members and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Fike; sister, Martha Fitzgerald; mother and father-in-law, Loretta and Ernest Powell; and a niece, Brandee Jeffries.
