Willard Henry VerMeer was born on October 10, 1924 in Pella, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Nettie(Bogaard)VerMeer. He would operate the farm for several decades, using downtimes to drive trucks for Peoria Stockyards. After his days in high school were over, he met Lora Ruth Klyn and their courtship would result in their marriage on September 4, 1946. Willard and Ruth had two children early in their marriage, Kent Henry in 1949 and Sandra Lynn in 1953. A third would come over sixteen years later, Spencer Will in 1969. After health issues would force him off the family farm, Willard, Ruth and Spencer would move into Pella in 1977 where he would enjoy retirement.
