Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in the Parish of Kilmannon, Ireland, he served as a Sergeant in the 53rd Regiment of Foot, the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, British Army. On October 2, 1857, in actions at Chattra, Bihar, India, Sergeant Dynon with an officer rushed Mutineers of the Ramgurh Battalion. Together they shot and captured the gunners, who were mowing down a detachment of their advancing unit. For most prestigious gallantry, he was awarded the Victoria Cross on February 25, 1862. Forced to leave the army due to ill health, he died at age 40 in Dublin, Ireland.
