She was born Jan. 1, 1928, at Norris, the daughter of Joseph and Tressa (Grigsby) Kitchen.
Survivors include on son Shawn Carter of Canton; three grandchildren; and one brother, Harlan Kitchen of Brereton.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby A. Wilson; two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of Maples Mill Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Eagles Lodge.
Betty Carley, 69, of Sunset Nursing Home died at 7:50 a.m. today at the Graham Hospital Emergency Room. Oaks-Hines Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

The fire indirectly led to the fatality of one woman, Betty Carley. The sixty-nine year old resident of Sunset Manor nursing home was pronounced dead at 7:50 a.m. after being struck by a van while the nursing home was being evacuated.
