Passenger on First Train Here Dies

Funeral Service was held today for Mrs. Bithiah Ornan Gray, 96, who was a passenger on the first train to reach Vancouver from Montreal.

Mrs. Gray was born in Woodstock, Ontario, and arrived here May 23, 1887, and was married the same day to James Connely Gray, also of Woodstock. He had come here by ship via San Francisco.

Mrs. Gray was a resident of New Westminster for 71 years.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Picker, Los Angeles; Mrs. Reginald Collier and Mrs. Charles Rennie, New Westminster; Mrs. Arnold Burr, Vancouver; three sons, George and James, New Westminster; and William, Port Alberni.

Gray - On December 29, 1959, at her home, 818 5th Ave., New Westminster, Mrs. Bithiah Ornan Gray in her 97th year. Survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Naomi G. Collier, Mrs. Charles Rennie, both of New Westminster; Mrs. C. Picker, Los Angeles; Mrs. Arnold Burr, Vancouver; 3 sons, James and George, both of New Westminster; William, Port Alberni; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Hettie Ramsey. Funeral service Friday, January 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home of S. Bowell & Sons, Rev. W. Evan Fullerton officiating. Interment Fraser Cemetery.
