Survivors include three sons, Alfred "Al" Hamblen and wife Paula, Elisha "PeeWee"
Hamblen and wife Linda, and David Hamblen and wife Lenora; one daughter, Martha
Hamblen; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10
stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years,
Hazel Hamblen; one son, Joseph "Eddie" Hamblen; and one brother, Frank Alan.He was a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Fred Hamblen was a 1981
Terre Award winner for his volunteer services to the community. His passions were his
family, baseball (St. Louis Cardinals), basketball, Terre Haute Firefighters, Barbershop
Quartets, singing, and playing his harmonica.Services are 10 a.m. Monday in Roselawn
Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., with Bishop Mel Roth officiating. Burial is in Roselawn
Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Alzheimer's unit at Royal Oaks Health Care and
Rehabilitation Center in Terre Haute.
