James F. Brook, 69 years old, formerly a resident of San Antonio, died at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Palestine, Tex., at which place he had recently made his home. Mr. Brook, in the course of his residence in this city, was at various times associated with the Alamo Iron Works, the San Antonio Machine & Supply Company and in the office of Harvey J. Page, as a mechanical engineer and draughtsman. He was engaged in civil engineering and construction work at Palestine. Mr. Brook is survived by four daughters, Mrs. C. H. Balcombe of Trenton, N. J.; Mrs. Clara E. Dougherty of Palestine; Miss Laura Brook of Palestine, and Mrs. J. E. Hume of San Antonio. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Masonic lodge. The body will arrive in San Antonio Wednesday afternoon and the funeral will be held from the chapel of the Shelley-Loring Undertaking Company at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, with interment in city cemetery No. 1.
