Funeral services for Jacob F. Flier, 80, Estherville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Rev. Dick Pearson officiating.
Mr. Flier died Monday evening at Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., and had been in failing health for the last several years.
He was born April 18, 1889 in Cherokee County to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Flier. He was educated in the Emmet County Schools.
He was a veteran of World War I and a longtime member of the American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge, both of Armstrong. He is a retired farmer and former employee of the City of Armstrong.
On May 30, 1959, he was married to Mrs. Velma Carlson at Jackson, Minn. The couple had lived in Estherville the last several years.
Survivors include his wife, Velma and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters and four brothers. He was the last surviving member of a family of nine children.
Burial will be in East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
