Born May 21, 1922 in Wilbur, WV he was a son of the late Alta and Gay Seckman Pratt.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife Edith Carpenter Pratt on August 14, 1945 and brothers Russell and Homer Pratt. In 1975, with 32 years of service, Mr. Pratt retired from Weirton Steel, having worked as a shipper for 25 years. Troy was a lifetime member of the Hancock County Sportsmen's Club, D.A.V. having served as Past Chairman, VFW, American Legion Post 10, Weirton Steel 25-Year Club, Beaver Valley Antique Club, IOOF and Weir Happy Wheels Campers. He helped build and was a very active member of the Oakland volunteer Fire Department. Over the years, Troy enjoyed hunting throughout the United States. He served as an Army Paratrooper during World Was II. Troy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eileen Gittings Pratt of Weirton; daughters Linda Pratt and Mary Robinson and her husband Rick of Weirton and Carolyn Uhl and her husband Duane of West Union, WV; sisters Lucy Billiter of Paden city, WV and Betty Fiest of Elyria, OH; 9 grandchildren including Amy Durdick and her husband Matt, Travis and Kyle Robinson and Joey Pratt all of Weirton; 11 great-grandchildren including Haylie and Luke Burdick of Weirton and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where IOOF services will be held Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Services being conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, 1604 Wylie ridge Road, New Cumberland, WV 26047.
