Lynda was born Sept. 2, 1953, in Hampton, VA.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Friendship Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. There she served with the Usher Board.
After graduating from Pembroke High School (formerly George P. Phenix), she attended Thomas Nelson Community College and Christopher Newport. She later attained her Realtors License and for several years served the Hampton Community as an award excelling agent.
Prior to her illness, Lynda was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hampton division.
Her rich spirit and vibrant nature was apparent to all she met. To lovingly cherish her memories, she leaves her son, Robert Deon (Mildred) Arrington of Erie, PA; daughter, Lisa Michelle (Reginald) Coleman of Lorman, MS; mother, Helen V. Parker of Hampton, VA; four sisters, Carolyn Fields of Laurel, MD, Diane (Dana) Powell of Chester, VA, Helen D. (Gene) Freelon of Richmond, VA, and E. Renee' Parker of Sterling, VA; four grandchildren, Tiana, Tevin, Reginald Jr. and Maya; a devoted friend, Leon Baker; several nieces and nephews; two aunts; three uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was conducted at 2:30pm on Thursday, March 2, 2002, at Queen Street Baptist Church by Rev. Anderson W. Clary Jr. Entombment followed in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Family and friends assembled by 1:30pm Thursday, March 2, 2002, at 915 Langley Ave. Viewing was two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday, March 2, 2002, and from 12 noon to 7pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2002, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home.
