Levi A Ressler was born October 19, 1848 near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and died at his home in Union township on December 8. His health failed for sometime but he was seriously ill for only a few days.

At the age of 21 years he came to Elkhart County, Indiana, and located on the David Kreider farm west of Jamestown. The place is now known as the Myers farm. There he was married to Fanny Kreider and two children were born to them. David K, who lives near Wadsworth, Ohio, and Mary who died at the age of ten years. Mrs Ressler died April 18, 1874, and in the fall of that year he left the Kreider home and moved to Union township. In April, 1876 he was married to Susan Landis, who preceded him in death on March 21, 1927. To this union seven children were born: Sarah L Weaver, who died in 1910; C L Ressler, Pierceton; Mrs Charles Heatwole, Orville, Ohio; Joe Ressler, Dalton, Ohio; Noah Ressler, location not known; Levi Jr., and Mrs Chr Weaver of Nappanee, at whose home he died. There are forty-nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Of his family of twelve brothers and sisters four remain: Amos A Ressler, Ronks, Pa; J A Ressler, Scottdale, Pa., Mrs Anna Aument, Lancaster City, Pa, and Mrs Mary Beutler Sr, Wakarusa.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Yellow Creek church by the resident ministers, William Ramer and Noah Wenger. Mr Ressler was a member of the Wisler Mennonites and an ordained deacon in that church.

He was a man of extraordinary vigor and health having never been sick till his last illness which was stomach cancer. He spent much of his time of late years among his bees and was well known as the honey man.
