On Friday, September 21, 2018 Eleanor Bethel Bryant went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born in Lynchburg, January 17, 1933 , she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Pearl C .Bethel. She was also the loving and devoted wife of the late Clarence T. Bryant, Jr. "Boo" for 51 years. Eleanor was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, caregiver and friend. She loved her God, her family, and her church. She devoted her life to raising her eight children and as her nest was getting smaller, she started babysitting many in the community. Eleanor was a nurturer and loved the children she cared for as her own, and they, too, became her extended family. She is survived by her children: C.T. Bryant,III (Diane), Karen Potter (Kerry), Steven Bryant (Kay), Kathy Thompson (Bruce), David Bryant (Kim), Chris Bryant (Kathy), Cindy Fulcher (Tim), and Will Bryant (Selna); 23 grandchildren, Jennifer Smith (Parker), Amanda Martin (Scotty), Carol Hash (Tim), Clarence Bryant,IV (Dayna), Robert Bryant, Laura Bryant, Emma Potter, Daniel Potter, Chad Potter, Erin Sullenger (Jim), Jonathan Bryant (Elaine), Sara Bartocci (Philip), Megan Br yant, Natalie Thompson, Jocelyn Shifflett (Zach), Sydney Smith, Houston Bryant, Abigail Bryant, Sam Bryant, Christina Fulcher, Craig Fulcher, Tressa Bryant, and Lila Bryant; nine great-grandchildren, Richard Smith, Blaine Smith, Waylon Bryant, Hollace Bryant, Kathryn Martin, James Martin, Tara Hash, Lanie Bryant, and Ada Shifflett; two sisters, Addie Ponton and Zelma Ferguson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Wesley Bethel (Louise) and Talmadge Bethel(Vernelle); a sister, Marie P. Bishop (Alfred); 2 brothers-in-law, Lawrence Ponton and Ray Ferguson; a daughter-in-law, Cindy G. Bryant; and a great-grandchild, Jacob Cole Martin. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Jonesboro Baptist Church c/o Debbie Yoho, P.O. Box 40, Roseland, Va. 22967 or to the Jonesboro Cemetery Association c/o Warren Raines.
