Dr. Max W. Goldschmidt, Retired U.S. Army Colonel, 81, of Munster, IN passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011. Married to beloved wife, Audrey (previously deceased) for 52 years. Survived by one daughter, Jill (Mark Schwartz) of Glencoe, IL; one son, Jeffrey, of Schererville, IN; grandchildren Corey and Jason Schwartz; sister Hannah Hochstaedter of Mill Valley, CA. Dr. Goldschmidt served proudly in the U.S. Army, Medical Corp., for 30 years. Then for his second career he taught medical students in the Family Practice Clinic as Associate Professor at Rosalind Franklin Chicago Medical School. Dr. Goldschmidt was a past president of Temple Beth El in Munster, IN. Member of the Board of Jewish War Veterans. Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Burns Kish Funeral Home, at 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Funeral service to follow at Burns Kish from 11 a.m. with Rabbi Stevens. Graveside service to be held at Fort Sheridan Military Cemetery in Ft. Sheridan, IL at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rabbi Steven Stark Lowenstein officiating. Shiva to be held following interment at the home of Jill and Mark Schwartz in Glencoe, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Temple Beth El or the charity of your choice in his memory will be appreciated. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.
