MANCHESTER -- Maurice William Godbout, 89, died April 5, 2008, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, on June 29, 1918, the son of Wilfred and Dorilda (Dorais) Godbout. He was educated in the local school system.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed as a spray painter for Chrysler Plymouth. He had also held employment with Duclos Auto, Hewitt Auto Parts, and Cavanaugh Garage for many years.
He enjoyed crafting birdhouses and windmills.
He had been a longtime communicant of the former St. Edmond Parish.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose A. (Gelinas) Godbout, in 2004.
Family members include one son, Robert M. Godbout of King Ferry, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. W. Michael (Cecile) Corson of Northwood, Denise Godbout of Bethlehem, Pa., and Mrs. William (Lorraine) Watkins of Dunbarton; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger and Stevens Godbout, both of Manchester; one sister, Irene Quinn of Manchester; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelley Steet. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Patient Activities Fund, Hillsborough County Nursing Home, 400 Mast Road, Goffstown 03045.
