Mabel M. Ames, 81, died at 1:30 p.m. April 6, 1994, at the Van Crest Nursing Home in Pleasant Township, Van Wert County. She was born Jan. 23, 1913,in Antwerp, to Thomas and Willamenia Keating. On Sept.7, 1935, she married Theodore P. Ames, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Ames retired from Ohio City-Liberty School after many years of service. She was a member of the Ohio City United Methodist Church, past member of the Official Board, member of the United Methodist Women's group and a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Hyler Chapter No. 432 Order of Eastern Star in Ohio City, where she was a Past Matron and a past state District 15 deputy. Survivors include two sons, a sister, and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cowan and
Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Romeo R. Velasco will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where an Order of Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
