Charles Richard Aukland (91) of Attica, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at Autumnwood Care Center , Tiffin . He was born December 29, 1917 in Franklin County , Oh to the late Harry and Eva ( Easton ) Aukland Eiselt. Mr. Aukland was a Standard Oil "Sohio" Distributor, Mercy Hospital orderly, Owner of Aukland Flower and Gift Shoppe and assisted the Foos and Son funeral Home in Attica through out his life.
Mr. Aukland helped start the EMT's in Attica and was a volunteer with the AVR Fire Dept and EMT's. He was a Lion for over 50 years and was a charter member of the Attica Lions Club where he held several offices over the years and was a Melvin Jones Award recipient which is one of the highest awards of the Lion's International. He was also a member of the Attica Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, Easter Stars, and past member of the Attica Fair board and Attica School Board. He loved his great grandchildren's visits to the nursing home and just had a wonderful smile for everyone.
Mr. Aukland is survived by his Son: Richard (Kathy) Aukland of Attica, 2 daughters: Eva Godwin of Auburn , IN and Vicki (Gene) Kanney of Bucyrus. 6 Grandchildren: Adam (Bridget) Godwin of Fort Wayne, IN, Jenni (Jeff) Beamer of New Washington, Aaron (Rachael) Godwin of Summerville, SC, Theresa (Ron) Digby of Mt. Blanchard, OH, Jackie (Pete) Titas of Richmond Hts, OH and Renee Aukland of Fremont, OH. 10 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Carolyn (Howard) Aukland and 2nd: Alberta (Cowgill) Aukland after 49 years of marriage. Daughter: Alberta Jane Aukland, son in law: Gregory Kreim and Brother: Paul Aukland.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Attica United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Clarke officiating. Burial will be in the Attica-Venice Twp Cemetery , Attica . Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Monday with a Lion's Service being held at 5:45 P.M. Monday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin Street , Attica .
