OBITUARY
AMOS D. BEARDSLEY was born in Chesterfield, N.Y. July 19, 1824 and died at Trimbelle, Wis., of hermorhage (sic) of the lungs, Aug. 23. 1866.
Mr. Beardsley was married to Miss Harriet Travis in 1852 who, with one of three children, remained to weep over his grave. At the age of nineteen he united himself with the Methodist E. Church, of which he was a member at his decease.
For eleven years past he was connected with the Masonic Fraternity and at the time of his illness and death he was a worthy and active member of Northwestern Lodge No. 105 in this city. His Lodge extended the usual assistance and sympathy in his last sickness and buried him with Masonic ceremonies and honors. His funeral was preached by Rev. A .B. Smith of River Falls.
The deceased was a good citizen - an excellent neighbor - a loving husband and a kind father. It affords his surviving friends comfort to cherish his memory in their hearts and to forget his few faults. His death scene was another glorious triumph of Christianity witnessed by many. Intelligently and fearlessly he passed from consciousness here, as we trust, to a better consciousness on the other side of the river. F.
