BELCHER, Bessie M., 89, of Vinton, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Alice Bowles of Franklin County. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul B. Belcher; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; one foster son, Carson Witt; and one son-in-law, Donald R. Barbour, Sr. She is survived by four sons, Paul (Gisela) of Englewood, Fla., Irvin (Mag), Richard (Rose), and Michael (Rita); five daughters Barbara (Terry) Kansas, Marietta Meador, Juanita Barbour, Evelyn (Gordon) Welsh, and Betty (Dean) Noble, all of the Vinton area. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edna Bowles and Alma Belcher; one brother-in-law, Luther Belcher; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a dear friend, Clara Byrd. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
