Jay Hilton, who went from here to Star Lake about two weeks ago to work in the woods, was killed last Saturday forenoon by a falling tree. He lived about an hour but did not regain consciousness. His brother Oscar, who was working a few miles from there, was notified and started for home at once with the body arriving here Sunday, coming with a livery team from Stevens Point.
The funeral was held Monday at McGregor church, and interment was made in the Hancock cemetery. Jay was about 44 years of age, and had never married. He was a good straight forward man, and by his labors had accumulated perhaps $1500 in cash and securities which we understand will go to his father, A.B. Hilton.
