An Elk City man died of injuries following a collision between a motorcycle and a a semi-truck on U.S. 75/160 highway west of Independence late Monday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says Rocky L. Condon, age 51, of Elk Cty was westbound on U.S. 75-160 when his 1993 Suzuki motorcycle struck the rear of a 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by Brett David Westley of Flandreau, S.D.
Condon, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital one hour after the collision.
Westley was not injured in the wreck,U75/U160 at milepost 21.5 or 100 feet west of west city limits Independence, Ks.

(Ford) and the late Ernest K. Condon. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 8, 2011 at the First Christian Church of Elk City with Reverend Jim Wilburn officiating.
Rocky is survived by his wife Virginia, mother Evelyn, 2 sons Rocky A. and Josh, one daughter Sierra, 3 grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 6 nephews and many friends.
