PANTEGO -- Robert D. "Bob" Surratt, 83, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at his home in Pantego.

Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel, N. Davis and Randol Mill, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Bob was born July 22, 1928, in Conway, Ark.

He was preceded in death by wife, Janice Surratt, of 48 years and leaves behind loving wife, Johnnie Surratt, of 13 years. He served as a Pantego councilman and then mayor pro tem from 1968-1987 and Pantego mayor from 1991-1995 and 1997-1999. He was also a Pantego Lions Club charter member since its establishment in 1982. He retired from LTV Missiles and Defense after 40 years of service.

Bob loved airplanes, was involved in the Vought retirees club, and helped restore vintage aircraft in his spare time. He also built and flew RC airplanes and had a particular fondness for the Chance Vought F4U Corsair.

Survivors: Wife, Johnnie Surratt; sons, Robert and wife, Kalynn, Stephen and wife, Frankie, and Donald and wife, Shelly, and step- daughter Tammy Sue; grandchildren, Patrick, Jonathan, Laura, Bryan, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Cole, Nathan and Nichole; three great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Al Cooley.
